15 years ago, I designed the visual identity for the launch of the first skate video by Capital Skateboards, a skate brand from Brasília, Brazil. The idea comes from a simple thought: “Skateboard. Love it or leave it.” If you keep skating, it’s because you really love it.
The graphic system uses horizontal lines to represent the pauses that naturally happen while filming a skate video: breaking boards, traveling to spots, getting hurt, trying again. Those gaps interrupt the words (skateing), but they also connect them, just like the obstacles that are part of skateboarding itself.
